What Are My Values?

It’s a great question that I think we all ask ourselves from time to time. I think there are pillars throughout life that we build our foundation on. My first pillar is a commitment to Community and Service. These values were modeled to me throughout my life growing up in a military family on bases throughout the U.S. Being a member of a sub-community with its own cultural identity helped me recognize and build my second pillar, Cultural Exploration and Acceptance. Getting to safely explore the world introduced me to cultures and ideas far beyond my own. What’s more is that it taught me that while location, language and customs may seem foreign, getting to view the world through someone else’s eye is invaluable. This lead me to my third pillar, Connection. Building connection to one’s self and others is consistent across cultures. It is integral to the human experience and makes the world turn. My last pillar is Family. I have been able to grow, explore, serve, connect and accept as a result of being firmly rooted in my family.
Being rooted with values in Community, Service, Cultural Exploration & Acceptance, Connection and Family lead me to a love of Social Work. It is a deep belief of mine that we should learn about, evaluate and seek to leave a positive impact in the world.

Bonded Family Beginnings
Bonded Family Beginnings has developed over many years through my passion for social work, continuing education and nannying. Throughout obtaining my MSc in War & Psychiatry at King’s College London and a Masters in Social Work from UNCC I worked as a nanny for families with newborns and toddlers. When I started working as an LCSWA at Levine Children’s Hospital and as a TF-CBT Therapist I found that I could not resist continuing to work with new and expanding families.
I first took the Red Cross babysitting course when I was 11 years old. I began nannying at 24 and have had the pleasure of working with 8 families. I think it is important to learn and respect the values of each family I interact with while bringing my own flare. I love silly songs, dance parties and outdoor adventure. It is important to me that there is consistency in child care by building trusting, lasting relationships while providing support. Along with obtaining Postpartum Doula training with CAPPA, I am a Bringing Baby Home Educator through The Gottman Institute.
